We all know of a producer in our home area who has been involved in a farm accident. As one of the most dangerous occupations in America, accidents in farming are far too common. Just last week, a friend of Pfister was injured by a PTO shaft. It is often the most basic precaution that is overlooked, and yet it causes the most life changing results.
Rural America has a special way of dealing with these kinds of events. Neighbors and friends will complete the harvest for an injured farmer with no expectations, maybe a “Thank You” from the family. It is times like these that remind us of the special people that are involved in Agriculture. Please make sure your employees and family clearly understand the importance of safety on the farm. That extra fifteen minutes that none of us can spare tomorrow morning may turn out to be life changing.
How do you incorporate safety on your farm?
